1960s Bell Trading Post Ring
Size 6.5
Sterling and Turquoise
Bell Trading Post was established in 1932 by Jack and Mildred Michelson in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The post was located on Route 66, they hoped this spot would be a boon in establishing their business as a place where tourists could find locally made Native American jewelry. They hired Native silversmiths to produce turquoise, silver, and copper jewelry. Jack died in 1957 and Bell Trading was passed to his children. Later, in 1969 it was renamed Sunbell, and it went out of business in the late 80s.
The stamp on this ring is the stamp that Bell Trading used in the 60s. It was polished before it got to El Sol, however the dark patina is still evident on the hard to reach spots, confirming its age.
